SCARINGI CONGRATULATES BACHMANN AND PAUL FOR THEIR VICTORIES IN IOWA STRAW POLL
He pointed out that 0ver 65% of the votes cast went to ‘Tea Party’ candidates.
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania — Marc Scaringi, candidate for the Republican nomination to the U.S. Senate from Pennsylvania, today congratulated Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Congressman Ron Paul for their victories in Iowa. Bachmann came out on top garnering 28% of the vote, while Ron Paul came in a close second with 27% of the vote. Bachmann is head of the Tea Party Caucus in Congress, while Ron Paul has been espousing the Tea Party values of the need for limited government, grounded in the Constitution, for years.
Scaringi responded to the victories, “What the results of the Iowa Straw Poll show us is the message of the Tea Party continues to resonate strongly with Americans. Sixty-five percent of the votes cast in the Straw Poll went to the ‘Tea Party’ candidates Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul, and Herman Cain. These results reflect what Americans across this country realize: that the time has come to start making the tough choices or our nation will face economic calamity in the next few years. The recent raising of our Debt Ceiling, giving Barack Obama another $2.1 trillion check, along with the National Debt–at $14.8 trillion-now surpassing the Gross Domestic Product, and the downgrading of our credit rating for the first time in our nation’s history, highlight this reality.”
Although Scaringi opposed the Debt Ceiling Deal, because it did not include “Cut, Cap and Balance,” Scaringi said, “If it were not for the Tea Party, the Congress and the President would not even be talking about cutting spending.” He added, “It is simply unacceptable that the United States will be a far lesser place in the future, because our leaders weren’t willing to make the tough choices today. That does not have to be the case. The American Dream must continue to be a birthright to all who wish to pursue it.”
Scaringi also commended his former boss, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, who has been a leader of the conservative movement for decades, for his strong 4th place finish in Iowa, which exceeded expectations. “The Iowa Straw Poll voters made their voice heard this weekend, and sent a message to Washington that true change is in the air, and conservative/Tea Party values are at the center of this sentiment. It’s time to get back to basics and get our country moving again.”
